Notts refers to the county, not the city.

Never a foul for the disallowed goal two players changing direction at the same time.

I didn’t have any cometary on can somebody explain how the handball wasn’t a red he clearly meant it and it was most likely going in

I said yesterday, probably the most worrying thing about the game how shit Lingard was. Because our manager's whole transfer strategy for 18 months has been based around getting him back, and as many of us suspected, he looked like a player going through the motions, more concerned with his move to the MLS next year to boost his social media PRESENCE.

What a fucking shambles.

No idea why but it’s Nott’m Forest and Nott’s County. They’re a bit touchy up there about that!

"What was verdict on our disallowed goal?"

One of those that if it went against you, you'd be screaming from the rooftops that it was a foul.

"For me Antonio punished for being stronger."

I'd say his tough man act after was what punished him. If he fell to the ground "normally" with the defender, then it probably would have been ignored.

We've only played really well a handful of times since November 2021. Two games that stand out are Seville at home and Lyon away. But our league form has been pretty poor and I can only think of Chelsea and Liverpool at home where we played really well. We did pick up some good results along the way but going into Feb and March 2022 our away form was woeful and I think we only picked up points against a doomed Norwich.

So the result doesn't surprise me. We were unlucky on the day. But ultimately a first half an hour where we get out-played, out-muscled and out-everything means we don't impose ourselves on the game until too late.

On another day we win easy. That's football. I get that. But for me the most worrying thing is how unprepared the team look. How jaded they look. Like they have started again and never played together before.

Obviously the clubs lack of ability to operate in the transfer market makes a difference because, quite honestly, had they not fucked about so much this window the team playing yesterday would've been different and vastly too good for Forest.

But there you go. I just feel we've been on the decline and the wane since Christmas 2021 and the lack of transfer activity has set us back two years. Moyes has overseen the decline in playing form and really, for me, doesn;t look like he knows how to get out of it.

What was verdict on our disallowed goal?

I couldn’t hear commentary but feeling where I was was that is was a bad decision. Not just west ham fans either .

If Antonio had fallen backwards I wonder what decision would have been.

For me Antonio punished for being stronger.

It was obstruction and foul on Antonio.

If that had happened in the box we would have got a penalty. Shows that VAR cocked up.?

If Rice was a top notch penalty taker Southgate would have kept him on in the Euro final against Italy when penalties were looming instead of making the balls up that he did.

Rice is absolutely the jewel in our crown but I just don't think he's a good penalty taker. Antonio has taken them and scored (maybe only one) but I wouldn't be 100% confident in him.

It's concerning Moyes spent so long chasing LOMBARD around and was prepared to chuck so much money at him, really.

One of those days.

Personally, no major issue with the disallowed goal - as I get older I tend to look at things like that and think how I would feel if it was given against us, and I'd be fuming. And to be frank, anyone who says they'd be absolutely fine with it being given against us is a liar. There's far more wailing about far less on here every week.

Only real positive was that lingard was fucking shit. Even then, his absolute shitness morphed into outrageous luck and we lost because of it

Re: ⚽ Notts Forest v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
lets face it we peaked at the lyon semi final and havent really got anywhere near that since - alot of words around " peoile have worked us out " I think its easier than that- large chunks of our player pool have reached the limits of their abilities and there are huge gaps in class where we need to be - we are nowhere near the top 10 let alone the euo places..

coufal and cresswell- woeful all game long - maybe they dont like the rickety defence weve put together but failing to make five yard passes or being unable to hit a cross on target shows they arent good enough

Dont understand how we look so open through the middle as soon as they got the ball back- second half we had a shot on target and five sconds later fabs was tipping a ball round the corner- this was like the bad old days of avram grant

the shakeup and new direction of the squad hasnt and I dont think will happen- all moyes seems to want to do is put okish players into the same positions

surely we can do better than blame a shit ref and "luck: for a a feeble result which in reality we should have been +3 homes and hosed...

“These are tge kind of games we should be smashing”

But on another day, with that exact performance, we would have smashed them.

It just was not our day.

Hit bar twice
Goal disallowed
Soucek misses sitters
Penalty miss (never let Rice take another one)

Frustrating but we move on.

Lock this thread now.

Swindon - so you would leave out either Benrahma or Antonio.. One who was easily our best player, or the other who was looking more like his old self?

fraser,

yes I do think Scamacca should start next game.

Just pointing out the silly knee jerking of wanting our 2 best players dropped/sold after 2 games of the new season.

Morning All,
We can bang on about the Board and the Dwarfs and suchlike but, if we can't beat Forrest then there's a problem.
I'm as pissed off as all of you but, Moyes???????
Last game of last Season and he has a full go at his player's in Public.
Yesterday again, the "defending was rotten to the core".
I really don't think Mr Lyall would have come out in public and said that.
Behind closed doors yes.
Greenwood the same but ,Moyes is quickly losing the plot.
Just why did Psycho leave??
I'm beginning to understand why.
Get a grip Moyes and air your dirty washing in the changing room.
Finally, FFS get some players in.
This lot lack QUALITY all round.
Watch Ross Barkley appear any time soon for 10m.......

Swindon - do you not think we should give Scamacca a start?

We're not scoring goals we have a new centre forward, he needs to start.

So out of the front three who do you rotate, the two that were best or the one that was poor?

swindon hammer 11:04 Mon Aug 15
Re: ⚽ Notts Forest v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
The knee jerking was at its climax yesterday.

Bowen apparently needs to be dropped as he’s been quiet the first 2 games (even though one of those games was against Man City and hardly any of our players even touched the ball let alone gave our attackers some service).

While there were a couple of people saying Rice doesn’t care anymore and should be sold for 80 million!

Re: ⚽ Notts Forest v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
If Rice was shit at penalties he wouldn't have taken it.

Absolutely no doubt in training he is banging them in otherwise he would not be taking them, but obviously isn't quite as cool under pressure.

I think it's more in his head than his feet as he has missed one before and is now taking over full time cpataincy from our long serving penatly taker, probably feels an obligation to take over the penalty taking.

Wonder what Scamacca is like at pens?

New Jersey 10:56 Mon Aug 15
Re: ⚽ Notts Forest v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
Every West Ham supporter knows Rice is shit at penalties, yet is allowed to take one.

When Moyes was asked about the potential red card for the penalty he brushed it off by saying correctly we should have scored so it wouldn't have been an issue but he continues to pick Soucek who every West Ham supporter knows is woefully out of form.

I just can't see us getting anything at Brighton as we've been poor in the league for a long time. I don't know what's up with Bowen, at present he's a shadow of last years player.
